Dear Folks,
Sleep deprivation and repetition of names or numbers is the classic method
of inducing synaesthesia and othe vagaries of the mind. Rumi in the Mathnawi
has a few lines like what will you you do when you smell with your ears and
hear with your eyes. If you gowithout sleep as much as you can for say 40
days and nights and your unconcious mind will become concious. This is one
of the things various mental teachers prepare their students for.
And their's always acid.....
Your Friend,
David

Synesthesia is a specific condition that occurs when an individual who
receives a stimulus in one sense modality simultaneously experiences a
sensation in another. In the last two centuries, the subject has
aroused the interest of many artists and scientists. The existence of
synesthesia seems at odds with the common-sense worldview of five
separate senses that channel impressions to our minds. Intrigued by
this apparent anomaly of the senses, artists and scientists have
explored and experimented with synesthesia in order to reveal how the
senses are interrelated. This bibliography contains a list of
references to literature (some online) on these explorations and
experiments by visual artists, musicians, writers, psychologists,
neurologists, linguists, anthropologists (and other scientists) into
the strange phenomenon of synesthesia. The bibliography consists of
three sections: ---- Begin Original Message ----
